Sync your BlackBerry with your eGroupWare Calendar, Contacts, Notes & Tasks

Messinet Secure Services now offers the ability to synchronize your BlackBerry with your eGroupWare Calendar, Contacts, Notes and tasks at Messinet Secure Services. The synchronization uses the SyncML method and has been tested with the BlackBerry Curve 8330.

In order to sync your BlackBerry device with Messinet Secure Services' eGroupWare implementation, you will need to install the  Open Source Funambol Client on your BlackBerry using the instructions below.

• Install the SSL Root Security Certificate from CACert, Inc. on your Blackberry.
  • Navigate to  http://www.cacert.org/index.php?id=3 from the browser on your BlackBerry, choose the Class 1 PKI Key (PEM) and allow it to install.
• Navigate to  http://my.funambol.com/m from the browser on your BlackBerry to download and install the application
• Configure the Funambol Sync Client with the following parameters:
  • Server:  https://messinet.com/egroupware/rpc.php
  • Username: your_username@messinet.com
  • Password: your_password
  • Contacts: card
  • Calendar: calendar
  • Tasks: stask
  • Notes: snote

Multiple BlackBerry Calendars

It is possible to define multiple separate calendars on the BlackBerry. If you are using an Enterprise configuration for one of the calendars, turn off Wireless Synchronization prior to adding your new calendar. It is also important to note that calendars are associated with an e-mail address so add your external e-mail configuration first, prior to syncing your calendar using the above method.

Resetting the BlackBerry Calendar

1. Select Options from the BlackBerry Calendar menu.
2. While in the Options screen, type RSET.
3. Select the calendars to be reset for each associated e-mail address.
